Hello, I have a 1989 635csi for sale.... This car is black exterior, black interior - in great condition & I used it as a daily driver until ~1year ago (when I got a new car). I bought it from a collector in Arizona who kept it in pristine condition, and though I wasn't able to keep it perfect (which he pretty much did), it has been exceptionally well cared for. Virtually all maintenance since ~2004 was done at Phaedrus BMW (of San Francisco), a shop with a great reputation and experience working on old cars. Oh yes - it only has 143,500 miles on it! Mechanically - loads of repair records (more than $5K), most of the major parts/systems have been replaced (at Phaedrus). The tranny, an automatic, was replaced in Arizona just before I purchased it. The air conditioner works and has been recharged, the fuel lines replaced, full hose replacement, pressure bomb replacement, etc etc etc. The only items currently on Phadrus' repair list are the rear differential mount and rear sub-frame mount - together these are only ~$800 (at Phaedrus, just confirmed). Body/Cosmetics - In very good condition, no rust, no accidents. There are a few minor items that, if you want it to be showroom, you'd need to fix...but none of them are big ticket items. There is a small dent at the very tip of the nose cone (from parallel parking mishap), and a "shopping cart ding" on one of the side fenders. The paint is not new, but is not blistering/peeling or anything like that. Inside...the steering wheel cover is worn & was next on my list to replace, but as with the other items this is cosmetic, and not bad. Misc - because of the exceptionally bad original sound, I put in a pair of focal speakers (nice/expensive, look 'em up) in, and had also put in a good amplifier/wiring and an up-to-date stereo deck. I removed the amp/deck for use in my new car...but the speakers + expensive wiring connections go with the car, so it's ready for an amp hookup and a head unit (if you feel like it). I also, of course, have the original stereo that goes with the car. I also have numerous shop manuals (passed on to me from the collector). This car is great if you know these and/or are handy with cars. I loved it, but the fact that I didn't have the space, or expertise, to really do much myself meant taking it into Phaedrus whenever anything came up. As you might guess this isn't the most cost-effective way of owning a classy car - so I'm looking for a new & loving owner. It's been garaged all its life...and is currently sitting in my garage, hooked up to a battery tender waiting for you to come take a look. Lots of more detail and photos (and conversation), if you are interested....just email. Cheers, -J
