UPDATE 5/19/10 - New paint job is complete! Body now is perfect - no dents, door dings, or road rash. Also, engine has been running very strong since I got the timing chain replaced on 12/22/09. I will leave the expiration date of this ad as 4/01/10. If it does not sell by then, it will be off the market. I am the third owner of this 85 M635csi. I purchased it in December of 2001 from an artist in New Orleans, when it had 87,360 miles on it. It currently has 115,xxx miles. I have driven it about 3500 miles per year since I have owned it. I do not drive it every day, but enjoy driving it once or twice a week. It has been garaged for the entire time I have owned it and I have never driven it in snow, so the body is in really good shape with no rust issues except for some surface rust around the battery housing (which is in the trunk). The interior leather is also in great shape. I can provide pictures on request. Mechanically-speaking it is a well-sorted out M with no issues that I am aware of other than a rear seal leak that I have never felt the need to fix. I either top off or change the manual transmission fluid with Red Line every winter anyway, and it has never been low. Coolant flushes were also done every winter. Oil changes have always been twice a year – 20W50 in the Spring, 10W40 in the Winter. Included with the car is a like-new free-flow catalytic converter, in case you live somewhere that requires it. - Just replaced winshield washer pump and hoses (12/22/2009). -Replaced rear subframe, rear shocks, and pitman arms -Performed top end rebuild, replacing single valve springs with double valve springs, replaced all valve seats and some valves. Head and valves were cleaned while it was off. -Replaced chain tensioner when the valve spring work was done. -Performed valve adjustment (using Euro shims). -Replaced A/C compressor -Replaced clutch master cylinder -Replaced left front swaybar -Replaced water pump -Replaced guibo, transmission mounts, shifter seal and trans output seal -Replaced all brake hoses with stainless steel lines -Replaced control arm bushings with polyurethane bushings -Replaced Antenna motor -Replaced fan clutch -Replaced front fog lights -Replaced numerous hoses -Replaced distributor cap and rotor -New Kumo tires last year *This is only a partial list. The complete list is on file at Bimmers-R-Us, where all of the service has been done for this vehicle since I have owned it. Some things that need to be fixed include: -Driver’s side rear window does not operate reliably (it is currently shut). -Need to put new nobs on the air conditioner sliders. -Reverse lights are not working. Probably just not wired up. -The trip computer back light is not working. This has been an off and on thing since I bought the car. I never use it so it hasn’t bothered me to leave it “dim”.
