1989 BMW 635CSi Alpine white with black leather, affectionately known in my house as “The Dot.” From the factory: Build date 08/88, 5-speed manual (one of the ~250 US spec cars from 88-89), Limited-slip differential, 5-disc CD changer. Modifications: Dinan Springs (SLS removed), Dinan Adjustable Sway Bars, Dinan Fixed, Negative Camber Plates (front) [front camber: -1.6, rear -2.3], Koni Adjustable Strut/Shocks, UUC Shortshifter with spherical bearings and gen-1 aluminum Rob Knob, E39 sport wheels (multi-piece “Y” spoke (style 42)), BBS TRX wheels also – 80s mesh center (black) with polished lip – no tires, Clear front turn lenses. Family owned since 20K miles: California car since 1991 (with a 3 year stay in AZ), Original Paint (8.5-9) and Interior (9+), black floor mats, No dash cracks and rear parcel shelf is almost perfect including speaker pods, Original head unit and speakers – not the loudest on the earth, but fidelity is great. Some recent service history: 169K (5/26/2010) new Dunlop SP Sport 8000s (235/45/ZR17) and oil change, 169K (5/21/2010) CA SMOG; registration paid (5/14/2010), 166K front pads and rotors (back pads 75% still there), fuel-pump relays, 160K major service, in-tank fuel pump, 151K tie-rods, 144K FULL head rebuild and new radiator, 138K ICV, 116K clutch, 98K all hoses, control arm bushings (modified 750s) and idler arm. Since 98K miles, this car has been maintained by Bavarian Professionals in Berkeley, CA and has been a blast to own for this long. I am moving in a different direction, so the Dot really needs a good, new home. It is a solid daily driver that spends its nights in the garage and has been cared for since my father bought it in 1991. I bought it in 1996 and brought it back from Arizona – dad rarely drove it for the 3 years he had it down there. No rust, only a few very small door-dings, a couple of cracked headlight lenses, but overall it is a very solid car. Paint has great shine, but the front is slightly speckled from 20 years of driving. It is well balanced on the track (slight oversteer) but has never been off course. I’d love to keep it, but I haven’t the space and it really needs to be driven regularly in order to keep it in good shape. It made it to Pacific Sharkfest the first 5 years, but after two kids, I am sorry to say it hasn’t made it since. Please help me find a new home for it. Email with questions.
