After 10 years of ownership, I'm reluctantly selling my car, which is basically a Euro M635csi. Originally known as the Bavarian Ferrari, this car has the 286hp version M88 engine (the US S38 version has only 256hp). The car has about 88,000 miles, but the instrument cluster is in German, and the mileage is in kilometers at 141k. I have extensive service records, including a recent timing chain replacement, which is critical on these engines. The dark green (like a forest green) paint is in very nice shape and mostly original, though the front bumper cover and the front spoiler could use a respray. The car was hit lightly in the rear about 10 years ago, but was fixed beautifully by Dick's Autobody in Somerville. The interior is a green houndstooth cloth that is unique. The dash has no cracks and the entire interior is in excellent shape. There are 2 rust bubbles about the size of a quarter in the bottom of each front fender, but they have been there for my entire ownership, as the car has not been driven in winter for the last 15 years. The engine really screams in this car! The car really comes on cam at 4000 rpm, and with the relatively light weight of the euro chassis, the car just takes off! The suspension is stock euro, without the self leveling rear (it has Bilsteins). It has the 750i control arm bushings in the front, but is otherwise stock. The car originally had the dreaded TRX tires and wheels (the 390 versions, not the 415), and I replaced them with these 15" ACT LS rims, which are now wearing 205/60 BF Goodrich summer tires which have good tread remaining. We tried 16" rims, but liked the way the car rode and drove better with the 15s. There is an interesting history to this car: It was built by BMWAG as a prototype of the eventual US M6, and the build plate shows: 6CS/US1!!!! It is the first US M6, and Bimmer magazine now wants to do a story featuring this car! Klaus Schnitzer, photographer for Bimmer, will be doing a feature story on this car, and it’s been scheduled for later this summer in the magazine!!! It is basically a Euro M635csi with M88 engine fitted by the factory with catalyst and US safety equipment. I have a letter from BMWNA certifying that it meets all US regulations for safety and emissions, as well as the DOT and EPA papers, and have never had any problem registering the vehicle. Please call me at 978-879-4866 for more information.
