Hand Built in Germany for the high speed excitement of the Autobahn, the 1997 840ci (the last USA delivered model year) is one of the most sought after BMW sport coupe's ever produced !
There were only 801 total BMW 840ci models delivered to
to North America for the combined last 2 years of 1996 and 1997.
This very rare BMW was an ultra low factory production vehicle that is fully loaded and has the newly improved (in 1996) and more desirable ultra-smooth M62 4.4 liter, 282 hp V8 engine which had both better fuel economy and more torque than the previous 1994 and 1995 model year 840ci's and with none of downsides associated with the factory recalls with the earlier model years, specifically having to do with the defect in the old (1994 and 1995) M60 Nikasil coated V8 engines and which was resolved in the 1996 and 1997 model years with the introduction of the new and improved M62 Alusil coated V8 engines.
This 1997 BMW 840ci also includes the very rare and highly desirable 5 speed steptronic automatic transmission that can be driven as an automatic or shifted auto-manually when you happen to be in the mood for a change of driving pace.
The car is completely stock with the exception of the 18” Sport M-Parallel Wheels.
The top speed is an electronically factory limited 155 mph with no modification but still gets an honest and economical 25 MPG on the highway when cruising at 65 mph.
Only rarely will you ever actually see an 8 Series model on the street anywhere in the entire USA. So in addition to how much fun the 840ci is to drive, this is one of those special exotic sport coupes that, because of it's rarity, always gets a lot of attention via looks, questions, and admiring comments wherever you happen to go. The BMW 8 Series was BMW's flagship car while in production. Accounting for inflation, a new model cost above $110,000 and had an electronically limited top speed of 155 mph (250 km/h). Although with the limiters removed, the top speed was estimated at 186 mph (299 km/h). Worldwide production ceased on May 12, 1999, with 30,621 built. And of this total there were only 4,782 of the (V12) 850i, 850ci, 850csi models and just 2,450 of the (V8 ) 840ci models were delivered to North America.

The title is free clear and in my possession and a copy will be provided at the time of finalizing your transaction for the purchase of the vehicle. A copy of the title can be made available by fax to Buyer immediately upon reaching an agreement to purchase the vehicle.

Payment and Terms of Sale:
An initial $500.00 deposit via Pay Pal or Bank Wire Transfer, or Overnight Mail will be due from Buyer within (48) hours from the agreement has been made to purchase the vehicle.
The remaining balance of funds are due within (10) days from the date you make the agreement to purchase the vehicle.
If you do not already have a Paypal account, please be aware that it takes a few days to set up and/or fund a new or even an existing Pay Pal account, so please plan ahead and do this prior to the time you agree to purchase the vehicle unless you are planning to use an Overnight Mailing Service to send the initial $500.00 cashier check as a down payment for the vehicle.
The remainder of payment can be CASH In Person, Bank Wire Transfer, or a Certified Cashiers Check from any US or Canadian Bank. Please be aware that funds must be verified and clear my bank before the vehicle and title are released. If the required initial deposit is not paid within (24) hours of the end of the auction, then Seller (at his option) reserves the right to enter into a transaction to sell the vehicle to another interested party.
I am a private party, not a dealer, so please arrange your financing in advance.
You, the Buyer, are responsible for pickup or arranging shipping of this vehicle at your own expense. If you wish to have it shipped using a service, I will gladly cooperate and help you in any way I can. You can locate shippers by doing a search for `auto shippers`. Please feel free to check into the approximate cost of shipping to your location or area before placing your bid.
Personally, over the years, I have bought and shipped a number of cars from around the USA to and from my home and have some valuable experience with the process. I am certainly happy to assist the buyer with advice on how to easily make the shipping arrangements so everything goes as smooth as possible and priced competitively.
