I've owned this car since 32K miles. I am the second owner. It now has just over 100K. It's been sitting in my garage, unused for 4 years now. All miles were freeway mile put on in the first 3 years. Time to make room in the garage.
2 weeks ago I put a new battery, changed the oil and filter, new brakes, etc. She runs well and is ready for a new home.
I've fixed most of the E38 weak points (Control Arm Bushings, Replaced Radiator and Expansion tank, PS lines, etc.) There are however 3 things that need to be sorted out to make this car "Perfect" in my opinion:
1) Cup holder (After inspection, it looks like the well documented internet fix will solve this problem)
2) New window tint. It just old...
3) Glove box latch. The handle piece broke, not the latch...so it still works (and the gb opens and closes fine) and the lock should be able to be transfered relatively easy to the new latch.
4) Even though I replaced the control arm bushing around 50K, I'm fairly certain the uppers need to be replaced again (Tell tale sign of flutter under braking at ~55MPH). (So, I purchased new arms with new bushings that I'll throw in...)
