LOS ANGELES, CA - How does the old saying go? "Mom, baseball and apple pie?" Well, in southern California, the saying has been modified slightly - let's try "Cars, Sunshine and more cars." Southern California plays host to some of the finest cars ever built, and you won't see more hot cars in any one place than you will in SoCal.
Why, just the other night, while walking down Sunset Boulevard, I saw (in this order, and with no less than 20 minutes elapsing before the first and last sighting): 2002 Ferrari 550 Maranello, 2003 Porsche 996 Twin Turbo, 2003 Lamborghini Murcielago, 2002 Porsche 996 Twin Turbo, 2001 Lamborghini Diablo VT, 2002 Ferrari 360 Modena, 2001 Viper GTS, more 2002 and 2003 Mercedes V12's than you could shake a stick at, and last, but certainly not least, a McLaren F1 roared past, headed east on Sunset Blvd as we stood in front of Johnny Depp's Viper Room entrance.
Everywhere we looked, there were cars and girls that one would normally find only on the pages of magazines. I'd comment that I might have been a bit star struck, seeing as how I'm from the small city and all, but my colleagues and cohorts (who are big-city folk) were all equally impressed and star struck. Huey, you aren't the only one who "love's LA."
But, alas, I was here to do a job, so I had to force myself to stop staring at and drooling on the cars that were parked alongside Sunset Boulevard for long enough to write an article about the Auto Show - the real reason that we're here in Los Angeles.
