According to the media guide that we received, "the Los Angeles Auto Show is the first international auto show of the year and features approximately two dozen World and North American Debuts." This year's show appeared to be no exception, as well over 30 vehicles (including concepts and sneak previews) were featured and debuted, including the 2003 Porsche Cayenne, the 2003 Aston Martin AR1, the 2003 BMW 330i HP Sport, and the 2004 Jaguar XJ.

The public is invited to attend the show from January 4th through January 12th, while the media enjoys two days of exclusive access on January 2nd and 3rd. The show opened about mid-day on the 2nd, which worked out well, as many of the displays were just reaching completion at that time.

Club Roadfly took advantage of those two sneak preview days to bring you exclusive coverage of the 2003 Porsche Cayenne World Debut. We were able to take well over 500 pictures of the event, and have published a few of them in the Cayenne Debut article located elsewhere within this issue.

In addition to the 2003 Porsche Cayenne event, several other vehicles made debuts. Unfortunately, due to the limited time set aside for media access, the manufacturers had to schedule their debuts and unveilings with little time between events. This makes for a very hurried show, and as a result, crucial unveilings are often missed or rushed - the price you pay for trying to cover "everything" with less than 12 hours of access.

We spent the first few hours of the show becoming acquainted with the displays, their locations and placement. During this time, Dodge, Ford and SCION unveiled their Magnum, Faction, and xA/xB, respectively.

The Dodge Magnum SRT-8 immediately caught our eye - it features a supercharged Hemi V8 that lays down 430 horsepower via very muscular looking 20" wheels. Dodge, if you're reading this, please, please, please build this vehicle as is - leave the supercharger in place for us "enthusiastic grocery getters."
