Sales slide means cuts for Europe carmakers-report
LONDON, June 7 (Reuters) - European car makers will have to slash production to combat the current slide in sales, which will remove 1.7 million cars from the annual market, a report published on Thursday said.
Only market leader Volkswagen (quote from Yahoo! UK & Ireland: VOWG.F) of Germany, and French companies Renault and Peugeot will emerge relatively unscathed when sales begin to revive in 2003, the report from automotive researcher Autopolis said.
Even German luxury car maker BMW (quote from Yahoo! UK & Ireland: BMWG.F), will find it hard to hang on to market share, according to Autopolis.
