BMW Sales Soar with 16.2 Percent Increase
WOODCLIFF LAKE, NEW JERSEY, February 1, 2002 (BMW of North America, Inc.) - BMW of North America, LLC reported its best January on record with sales of 15,923 vehicles, an increase of 16.2 percent over the 13,708 vehicles sold a year ago.
BMW reported a 20 percent jump in automobile sales to 12,778 compared to 10,679 in January 2001. The January 2002 total includes 1,510 all-new 745i sedans, which went on sale January 19th.
The company also reported sales of 3,145 BMW X5 Sports Activity Vehicles compared to 3,029 sold a year ago, an increase of almost 4 percent.
Sales of Certified Pre-owned vehicles were remarkably strong, too, with 3,334 vehicles reported, up 16 percent from the 2,864 pre-owned vehicles sold a year ago. This performance marks the strongest January for Certified Pre-owned BMWs in history, eclipsing the previous record of 2,965 sales set in January 2000.
