BMW’s diesel version of its beloved 3 Series delivers the best of both worlds: sporty and fuel efficient. Typically, those two adjectives would never go hand and hand, but BMW found a way to make it work. The 335d represents BMW’s most fuel-efficient car ever sold in the United States.

The ’10 335d with the 3.0L inline-six produces 265 horsepower and 425 lb-feet of torque while also getting 23 mpg city and 36 mpg highway, an average of 29.5 mpg. The diesel fuel won’t cost you much more at the pump as the national average estimates the cost at a tolerable $.14 cents higher than gasoline.

Thanks to the diesel engine, which, contrary to popular belief is NOT dirtier than a gasoline engine, you’ll be contributing 20% less carbon from your exhaust than you would be from a comparable gas engine. That’s right, you don’t have to sacrifice luxury, performance, and style to be environmentally conscious. BMW also injects urea, or as they like to call it, AdBlue, to neutralize pollutants in the exhaust system. The 5.3 gallon urea tank will need to be re-filled on regular intervals but BMW covers the cost for the first 50,000 miles.

The starting price is $43,950, and with all the goodies like the Premium and Climate packages, the cost tops out at $51,875. And for once, buying luxury saves you on taxes, as the purchase of a 335d makes you eligible for a $900 tax credit.

Pretty decent review. I have a 335d, so nice to see it getting an accurate analysis.
After watching the video, I can say that wow, that’s one hot good-looking ride. The car isn’t bad either.
